To build the necessary infrastructure, NASA is collaborating with a consortium of commercial partners, including Blue Origin, Firefly Aerospace, Intuitive Machines, and Voyager Space. These companies are tasked with developing the spacecraft and hardware required to support a permanent outpost. A critical component of the current strategy involves executing more than 20 robotic landings—part of a Phase I architecture extending through 2029—to prepare the site and facilitate the transition to human activity.
