Anthropic Report: AI Could Push U.S. GDP to $44.4 Trillion by 2030

Artificial intelligence is poised to drive growth across all projected economic paths for the United States, according to a new report from Anthropic. The analysis warns that while national wealth may surge, these gains could trigger significant job displacement for knowledge workers.
In a report titled "Scenarios for our Economic Future," Anthropic's economics team modeled three potential trajectories for the U.S. economy through 2030: modest, substantial, and extreme. In the "extreme" scenario, the report projects that U.S. GDP could reach $44.4 trillion by 2030, a figure 32.4% above the baseline. Under these conditions, annual GDP growth could hit 15%, which would effectively double the size of the economy every 4.5 years. A more conservative "substantial" scenario projects a U.S. GDP of $36.3 trillion, or 8.3% above the baseline. Anthropic noted that AI drives GDP growth in all scenarios, although the scale varies enormously depending on the trajectory.
