CesiumAstro Acquires Jariet Technologies to Vertically Integrate RF Silicon Design

The acquisition brings mmWave RF-SoC capabilities in-house to secure a U.S.-based supply chain for space and defense communications.

CesiumAstro Inc. announced the acquisition of Jariet Technologies on August 12, 2026, moving the company toward full vertical integration of its satellite systems. The deal allows CesiumAstro to control its production from the silicon level up to complete satellite missions.

Jariet Technologies specializes in millimeter-wave (mmWave) RF System-on-Chip (RF-SoC) solutions tailored for radar systems, electronic warfare (EW), and satellite communications (SATCOM). Jariet was the first firm to qualify and release a direct-sampling RF transceiver IC capable of reaching 36GHz, with prototypes that have exceeded 50GHz. By absorbing these capabilities, CesiumAstro aims to optimize system performance and reduce overall complexity.

The Push for Vertical Integration

CesiumAstro has established itself as a leader in software-defined radios and phased array antenna systems for the defense and space sectors. This acquisition represents a strategic move further down the technology stack, granting the company direct control over the RF front-end and high-speed signal conversion. This follows a pattern of expansion, as the company previously acquired Vidrovr, an AI firm specializing in real-time multimodal signal analysis.

"Integrating advanced mixed-signal semiconductor design in-house gives us greater control over performance from the RF front-end through complete mission system, while enabling us to field new capabilities faster," said Shey Sabripour, Founder and CEO of CesiumAstro.

Strategic Implications for Defense

The shift toward in-house semiconductor design reduces reliance on external vendors and is expected to accelerate the development cycle for communications and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems. For U.S. national security, the move establishes a more resilient, domestic supply chain for critical aerospace hardware, which is essential for maintaining operations in contested environments.

Charles Harper, CEO of Jariet Technologies, noted that combining Jariet's innovation in digital beamforming and high-speed data converter transceivers with CesiumAstro’s expertise in satellite systems will speed up the delivery of next-generation phased array solutions.

Future Outlook

Industry observers will now watch how quickly CesiumAstro can integrate Jariet's RF-SoC technology into its existing payload and platform offerings. While the technical capabilities of the acquisition are clear, the timeline for the first vertically integrated mission systems utilizing this in-house silicon remains to be seen. This move signals a broader trend in the aerospace sector where prime contractors are reclaiming the silicon layer to avoid the bottlenecks of traditional semiconductor procurement and to ensure hardware-software co-optimization for high-frequency applications.
