Corsair has launched the 2026 version of its RM1000e power supply, introducing a hardware-level safety mechanism designed to protect high-end graphics cards. The unit centers on a new "ThermalProtect" 12V-2x6 cable that monitors heat in real-time to prevent catastrophic hardware failure.
The ThermalProtect cable includes integrated temperature sensing that automatically cuts power to the GPU if the connector temperature exceeds 65°C. This fail-safe is designed specifically to prevent the connector from melting. Built by HEC on the RMe platform, the PSU is priced at $180 and is backed by a seven-year warranty. While marketed with a Gold efficiency badge, the unit actually achieves Cybenetics Platinum-level efficiency and includes a 500W fanless window for quieter operation at lower loads.

This release comes as a direct response to ongoing reliability issues with 12VHPWR and the updated 12V-2x6 connectors used in power-hungry GPUs, such as the NVIDIA RTX 40-series.
