Lattice Semiconductor Hits Record Q2 Revenue as AI Infrastructure Demand Surges

The company is leveraging a strategic firmware acquisition and rising FPGA attach rates to target a $1 billion annual revenue run rate.

Lattice Semiconductor has reported record financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2026, driven by a massive increase in AI infrastructure spending. The company's growth highlights a broader trend where the AI boom is fueling demand for the supporting silicon that manages data center operations.

For Q2 FY 2026, Lattice reported revenue of $201.1 million, representing a 62.2% increase year-over-year. The most significant growth occurred within the Compute and Communications segment, where revenue jumped 83% year-over-year to $126.0 million. According to company data, this surge was fueled by strong demand for general-purpose servers and AI-specific infrastructure. CEO Ford Tamer attributed the performance to strong customer demand, an accelerating backlog, and sustained design win momentum, which he noted provides confidence in continued profitable growth and market share gains.

The Role of FPGAs in AI

While high-profile AI accelerators like GPUs handle the primary computational workloads, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) serve as critical companion chips. These reconfigurable chips manage the essential logic and control tasks that keep a server running, including the coordination of power, cooling, and security within AI server racks. As AI clusters grow in complexity, the "attach rate"—the number of FPGAs used per server—has increased, creating a significant tailwind for Lattice.

Strategic Shift to Platform Management

To move beyond being a simple component supplier, Lattice has integrated the acquisition of AMI, a provider of platform firmware. By combining its FPGA hardware with AMI's firmware capabilities, Lattice is positioning itself as a provider of secure platform management and control for AI servers. This integration allows the company to offer a more comprehensive control plane for the data center, effectively diversifying its business and reducing its historical reliance on more cyclical industrial markets.

Market Outlook

This strategic pivot is reflecting in the company's financial trajectory. Lattice is currently on track to exceed a $1 billion annual revenue run rate on a pro forma basis that includes the AMI acquisition. This represents a doubling of its previous annual FPGA revenue base of $500 million. Industry analysts suggest that Lattice's current position demonstrates that the AI gold rush benefits not only the chip designers creating the "brains" of the operation, but also the infrastructure providers ensuring those brains remain powered and secure.
