Louisiana Tech University has joined the National Network for Microelectronics Education (NNME) to help bridge the critical talent gap in the U.S. semiconductor industry. The move integrates the university into a national framework designed to synchronize academic curricula with the immediate needs of high-tech employers.
As a member of the NNME South Regional Node, Louisiana Tech will collaborate with a network serving Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah. This regional node is led by the University of Texas at Austin, while the SEMI Foundation serves as the Hub Operator for the broader NNME. The initiative is funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce.

This integration comes as the United States aggressively seeks to rebuild its domestic semiconductor industry, a push largely driven by the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022. Louisiana Tech brings a 30-year history of microelectronics education to the table, but the NNME partnership allows the institution to scale its impact.
