Elon Musk’s conglomerate of companies is planning the construction of "Terafab," a massive semiconductor fabrication plant in Grimes County, Texas. The facility is designed to consolidate the entire chip production lifecycle—from initial design and lithography to final packaging and testing—within a single site.

The project is a joint venture involving Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI, with Intel joining as a primary manufacturing partner on April 7, 2026. Initial investment is estimated at $16.8 billion, with total capital expenditures potentially rising to $119 billion if additional phases are completed.
