SEMICON West permanently relocates to Phoenix starting in 2027
The premier North American semiconductor conference leaves San Francisco after 50 years to align with Arizona's booming manufacturing hub.
SEMI has announced that SEMICON West, the premier semiconductor industry conference in North America, will permanently relocate from San Francisco to Phoenix, Arizona, beginning in 2027. The move marks a historic departure from the Bay Area, where the event has been hosted for over 50 years.
The transition includes a significant scheduling shift, as the conference moves from a fall calendar to an annual spring schedule. The final event in San Francisco is slated for October 13–15, 2026, at the Moscone Center. Following this, the inaugural spring edition in Phoenix will take place from March 30 to April 1, 2027, at the Phoenix Convention Center. To provide long-term stability for the industry, SEMI has already confirmed future dates for May 9–11, 2028, and April 3–5, 2029.
The Rise of the Silicon Desert
This relocation follows a successful inaugural event held in Phoenix in 2025 and reflects a massive surge in semiconductor investment within Arizona. The region has rapidly evolved into a primary hub for advanced micro-electronics and manufacturing in the United States. A central driver of this growth is TSMC, whose total investment pipeline in Arizona has reached $265 billion, creating a dense ecosystem of suppliers and technical talent in the Southwest.
A Shift in Industry Gravity
The move signals a geographic shift in the center of gravity for the U.S. semiconductor industry, moving away from the traditional Silicon Valley hub toward what is increasingly known as the "Silicon Desert." By relocating the conference, SEMI is aligning the industry's most influential gathering with the actual physical expansion of chip fabrication plants. Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego stated that the move further cements the city's status as the center of the American semiconductor industry.

As the industry prepares for the final San Francisco tenure in 2026, the focus shifts to how the Phoenix ecosystem will absorb the scale of the event.
