President Donald Trump has signed a proclamation imposing a 15% tariff on polysilicon derivative products to reduce U.S. dependence on Chinese imports for critical technology. These trade protections are scheduled to take effect on December 4, 2026.

To prevent predatory pricing and stabilize the market, the U.S. government is establishing strict minimum import prices. These price floors are set at $21 per kilogram for polysilicon and $100 per kilogram for ingots and wafers. For solar-specific components, the minimum prices are established at $0.22 per watt for solar cells and $0.38 per watt for solar modules.
