The current transition is toward "agentic coding," a model where AI agents are no longer just autocomplete tools but are capable of planning, writing, and testing software independently.

While these agents can handle significant portions of the development lifecycle, they create a systemic tension. The ability to generate functional code in seconds often masks a lack of architectural intent, leading to a disconnect between the volume of output and the actual quality of the engineering.
