Weedout operates by scanning for YouTube's official disclosure badges and hiding matching videos across multiple areas of the platform. According to the developer's official site, the extension filters content from the home feed, search results, related videos, playlists, and YouTube Shorts. The tool is available as a paid extension for macOS priced at $1.99.
The Rise of Synthetic Content
YouTube recently implemented disclosure labels for content that is altered or synthetic to increase transparency for viewers. This move comes as the platform sees an increase in AI-generated "slop" and synthetic conspiracy content.
