Epic Systems Embeds 100+ AI Features to Combat Clinician Burnout

Epic Systems is aggressively integrating generative AI into its clinical workflows to combat provider burnout and streamline patient engagement. At its 2024 User Group Meeting (UGM), the company detailed a roadmap focused on the rapid deployment of embedded AI tools designed to move the technology from experimental pilots into daily medical practice.
As part of this expansion, Epic is developing more than 100 new AI features tailored for doctors and patients. A primary focus of this rollout is the enhancement of MyChart; by the end of 2025, Epic expects its generative AI capabilities to automatically pull medications, test results, and other critical clinical details into MyChart responses to assist physicians in communicating with their patients.
The Shift to Embedded AI
This strategic pivot comes as the healthcare industry moves away from standalone AI applications toward tools deeply integrated into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
