Inspired by his time at the MIT AgeLab, Yansen, a serial entrepreneur and member of the MIT class of 1963, founded Kiwi Health in October 2024. The startup's primary product is a voice-controlled wristband and watch designed for seniors. The AgeLab Catalyst
The spark for Kiwi Health came during a 2024 research study at the MIT AgeLab, where Yansen participated in a project focusing on AI technology for caregiving. During the study, Yansen observed firsthand the frustration of participants who struggled to navigate current devices. He noted that while modern technology is powerful, it is rarely designed with the cognitive or physical requirements of seniors in mind, leading to a disconnect between the available tools and the people who need them most.
