Ozlo Sleepbuds 2 Aim to Revive Bose's Sleep-Tech Legacy
Founded by former Bose engineers, Ozlo launches $279 earbuds prioritizing noise masking and comfort for light sleepers.
Ozlo has released the Sleepbuds 2, a specialized set of earbuds designed to help light sleepers block out environmental disruptions. The launch marks a significant step for the company as it attempts to scale a niche hardware category originally pioneered by Bose.
Launched around July 28, 2026, the Sleepbuds 2 are priced at $279. The hardware features a 14-hour battery life and utilizes noise-masking technology rather than active noise cancellation (ANC) to dampen sounds such as snoring or city traffic. According to N.B. Patil, Co-founder and CEO of Ozlo, the device is "the product our customers helped us build."
The Bose Connection
Ozlo was founded in 2022 by a team of former Bose engineers. After Bose exited the sleep-earbud category, the Ozlo team licensed the original Sleepbuds intellectual property to continue developing the technology. This lineage allows the company to focus on the specific ergonomics required for side-sleepers, who often find traditional earbuds too bulky or uncomfortable for overnight use.
A Shift Toward Sleep Data
Beyond simple audio masking, Ozlo is positioning itself as more than a hardware manufacturer. The company is moving toward becoming a broader sleep data platform, using the earbuds to collect biometric and environmental insights. The goal is to transform the device from a passive noise-blocker into an active tool for sleep improvement.
However, the transition into health tracking has met with some skepticism. A review from ZDNET noted that the sleep-tracking data provided by the Sleepbuds 2 is significantly less accurate when compared to specialized health wearables like the Oura Ring 5. This suggests a performance gap between general-purpose sleep earbuds and dedicated medical-grade or biometric trackers.
What to Watch
As Ozlo continues to integrate data collection into its ecosystem, the industry will be watching to see if the company can improve its biometric accuracy to compete with established health rings and watches. For now, the Sleepbuds 2 remain a targeted solution for those prioritizing physical comfort and noise masking over high-precision health analytics.
