Satechi Launches Thunderbolt 5 CubeDock with Integrated NVMe Storage

Satechi has launched the Thunderbolt 5 CubeDock, a compact docking station that integrates a high-speed hub with a built-in M.2 NVMe SSD enclosure. Introduced at CES 2026, the device centralizes high-performance storage and connectivity for creative professionals and power users.
Priced at $399.99, the CubeDock delivers up to 120Gbps of bandwidth and 140W of power delivery to the host laptop. Its most distinctive feature is the internal SSD bay, which supports M.2 NVMe drives in 2230, 2242, 2260, and 2280 sizes up to 8TB, reaching speeds of up to 6,000 MB/s. Cesar Cadenas of ZDNET noted that this integrated enclosure "elevates what would've been an ordinary docking station into something special."
A Leap in Bandwidth
The device arrives during the industry transition to Thunderbolt 5, a standard that significantly increases data throughput compared to the 40Gbps limit of Thunderbolt 4. To manage the heat generated by the Thunderbolt 5 controller and the NVMe SSD, Satechi equipped the CubeDock with an aluminum chassis and an internal cooling fan. The design mirrors the aesthetic of Apple's Mac mini, specifically targeting macOS users who prefer a cohesive desktop look.
Connectivity and Display Support
The port array is built for heavy data workflows, featuring one upstream Thunderbolt 5 port and three downstream Thunderbolt 5 ports. Additionally, the dock includes two 10Gbps USB-C data ports, 2.5G Ethernet, UHS-II SD and microSD card readers, and a 3.5mm audio jack. For visual output, the CubeDock supports up to three 8K displays at 60Hz on Windows systems via native DisplayPort 2.1 support over Thunderbolt 5, though it notably lacks a dedicated HDMI port.
