The results highlighted a significant gap in the current state of the technology: while robots can be engineered for linear, task-specific excellence, they lack the reliability and dexterity required for general-purpose autonomy in unpredictable environments.

In 2025 alone, more than $6 billion was invested in humanoid robot companies, fueling a race for dominance in artificial intelligence and hardware. This industrial surge is occurring against a backdrop of intensifying geopolitical friction, evidenced by the U.S. government's ban on the import of foreign-made robots, including those produced in China.
The Path to Autonomy
The contrast between record-breaking speed and the inability to fold laundry suggests that simulation-based AI is outstripping physical reliability.
