The modular laptop maker is passing cost savings from Micron memory modules back to early adopters.
Framework is lowering the prices of its 32GB and 64GB LPCAMM2 memory modules for the Laptop 13 Pro. In a rare move for the hardware industry, the company is proactively issuing retroactive refunds to customers who paid higher prices during the initial preorder phase.
The price reductions apply specifically to the 32GB and 64GB LPCAMM2 modules sourced from Micron. Framework is sending refunds to customers whose preorders shipped at the higher pricing established in July. Additionally, the company is adjusting costs for pending preorders through Batch 10. For those who purchased the DIY Edition, Framework has provided a dedicated form allowing customers to request a switch in their RAM configuration to take advantage of the new, lower pricing.
The Shift to LPCAMM2
This pricing adjustment follows a period of volatility in the hardware market. In July, Framework increased memory costs for the Laptop 13 Pro due to component shortages and unstable market conditions. The Laptop 13 Pro utilizes LPCAMM2, a modern, compact replaceable memory format that differs from the traditional SO-DIMM slots found in most laptops. Because this format is newer and more specialized, its supply chain has been more susceptible to the price swings that necessitated the initial hike.

It is highly unusual for a hardware manufacturer to issue retroactive refunds after a product has shipped. By passing these savings back to the user, Framework is doubling down on its brand identity of transparency and consumer-first modularity.
