Runable raises $21M to pivot AI agents toward small business growth
The Bengaluru-based startup is shifting focus from software creation to automating customer acquisition and SEO.
Bengaluru-based startup Runable has secured $21 million in Series A funding to pivot its AI agent platform toward business growth operations. The investment values the company at $65 million and signals a strategic shift from building software to driving revenue for small businesses.
The funding round was co-led by Susquehanna Venture Capital and Nexus Venture Partners, with additional participation from Array VC and Together Fund. Runable is redirecting its technology to help small business owners automate critical growth levers, including SEO, ad campaigns, and customer acquisition.
From Infrastructure to Outcomes
Founded in 2025 by Saksham Sarda and Umesh Kumar, Runable originally launched as an AI infrastructure firm specializing in browser-based data scraping. The company later evolved into a general-purpose AI agent after observing that users were leveraging the tools to create websites and slide decks.
This latest pivot moves the company further away from the technical act of creation. CEO Umesh Kumar noted that businesses do not fundamentally require tools like Claude Code or Codex, stating instead that they "require real outcomes."
Rapid Scale and Market Traction
Despite the strategic shift, Runable has demonstrated significant early momentum. The company reported reaching a $2 million annualized revenue run rate within just three weeks of introducing payment options in March.
User engagement has scaled rapidly, with the platform consuming more than 1 trillion tokens over the last 90 days. Runable reports that 60% to 70% of this usage is driven by paying customers. Currently, the startup supports approximately 1.7 million registered users, with its primary market footprints established in Japan, the UK, and the U.S.
Solving the AI 'Last Mile'
Runable enters a crowded field featuring AI giants like Anthropic and OpenAI, as well as specialized coding platforms such as Replit and Cursor. However, the company aims to differentiate itself by focusing on the "last mile" of AI implementation: turning a generated digital asset into a functioning, revenue-generating business.
By integrating distribution, analytics, and infrastructure into a single flow, Runable intends to remove the need for non-technical business owners to manage fragmented third-party marketing stacks. The goal is to move the AI agent market from a focus on "creation"—building the tool—to "operation," where the AI actively grows the business.
Future Outlook
As Runable deploys its new capital, the industry will be watching whether a general-purpose agent can successfully displace specialized marketing agencies and software suites for small businesses. While the company has seen rapid user growth and revenue acceleration, the long-term challenge remains maintaining these margins while scaling the high compute costs associated with trillion-token workloads.
