Endra Expands to US and UK to Automate MEP Engineering After $50M Series A

Stockholm-based AI company Endra has launched an aggressive expansion into the US and UK markets to automate Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering. The move aims to resolve a severe workforce shortage that currently threatens the pace of global infrastructure deployment.

Backed by a $50 million Series A funding round led by Andreessen Horowitz, Endra has established a North American headquarters in New York along with additional offices in San Francisco and London. The company is deploying an AI-native platform capable of performing high-level engineering tasks at a fraction of traditional speeds. According to company data, Endra's platform can complete a code-compliant electrical design for a 500,000-square-foot commercial building in less than a day—a process that typically requires approximately two months of manual labor.

The Engineering Bottleneck

MEP engineering serves as the invisible backbone of building design, managing the routing of all utilities and ensuring strict adherence to safety and building codes. While essential, the sector is facing a critical capacity crisis. This bottleneck is driven by a surge in the construction of AI data centers, the acceleration of urban electrification, and global mandates to reach net-zero emissions by 2030. Because the demand for specialized engineering expertise has outpaced the available workforce, the speed of these massive projects is often limited by the time required for manual design and verification.

Industry Implications

By automating the most tedious aspects of MEP design, Endra intends to remove the primary constraint on infrastructure speed. The ability to compress months of design work into hours allows developers to bring critical facilities, such as AI data centers, online significantly faster and with greater precision.

Anton Juric, Co-Founder and President of Endra, emphasized the importance of a physical presence in the US, noting that "enterprise trust is won in the room" and that early adopters will gain a competitive edge through increased capacity and faster timelines. CEO and Co-Founder Niklas Lindgren added that the industry has spent 25 years waiting for software that truly understands engineering work, asserting that "that wait is ending."
