This expansion follows a period of explosive growth for Google's AI services; Google Cloud revenue surged 82% year-over-year to approximately $24.8 billion in the second quarter, with Gemini models now processing 22 billion API tokens per minute.
The Shift to Inference Infrastructure

As AI evolves from simple query-response interactions toward complex, continuously running agent workflows, the demand for inference infrastructure is surging.
