Yotta Data Services Targets $12 Billion Expansion to Scale India's AI Infrastructure
The Hiranandani Group-backed provider is deploying next-generation NVIDIA chips to address India's critical data centre shortage.
Yotta Data Services is launching a massive infrastructure expansion to solidify India's position in the global AI race. The company is targeting a total investment of $12 billion to build scalable, Tier-4 certified data centre parks across the country.
Speaking during the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026, Yotta CEO Sunil Gupta detailed plans to procure 90,000 next-generation NVIDIA chips, including the Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell GB300 architectures. A cornerstone of this strategy is a new 120 MW data centre in Greater Noida, designed to house a significant portion of this compute power. The move aims to transform the region into a hub for high-performance computing and large-scale model training.
The Infrastructure Gap
India has historically struggled with a deficit in digital infrastructure. According to Sunil Gupta, the country has an "abnormally low data centre capacity" relative to its digital needs and the size of its economy. As the demand for generative AI surges, the industry is shifting toward the creation of "AI factories"—massive GPU clusters capable of handling the immense workloads required for training and deploying sophisticated large-scale models.
The Push for Sovereign AI
Backed by the Hiranandani Group, Yotta is positioning itself as a domestic alternative to US-based hyperscalers such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. This shift toward sovereign AI infrastructure is intended to reduce India's reliance on foreign cloud providers and ensure that critical compute resources remain within national borders. By deploying the latest NVIDIA hardware, Yotta intends to provide the necessary compute power for the local AI ecosystem to scale while simultaneously creating thousands of high-tech engineering jobs.
Future Outlook
While the overarching $12 billion investment goal is clear, the exact distribution of GPUs across specific facilities remains subject to final deployment schedules. Market observers will be watching how quickly Yotta can bring the Greater Noida facility online and whether other domestic players will match this scale of investment to compete with global cloud giants.
