Genesis GV90 Debuts with Motorized 'Cinematic Display' for Ultra-Luxury EV Market
The brand's first full-size electric flagship SUV transforms its interior into a private theater with a pop-up OLED screen.
Genesis has unveiled the GV90, its first full-size flagship electric SUV, featuring a transformative "Cinematic Display" designed to redefine the luxury cabin. The vehicle positions itself as an ultra-luxury "people mover," blending high-capacity electric performance with immersive entertainment technology.
At the center of the interior is a motorized OLED screen that adapts to the vehicle's state. While driving, the display measures 23.6 inches, but once the vehicle is parked, the screen motorizes upward by 90mm and expands to 24.6 inches. To complete the theater experience, Genesis integrated a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D Sound System with Dolby Atmos. According to Inho Yoon, the GV90 Pleos Connect Designer, these features are intended to "provide a highly immersive, movie theater-like experience."
The New Flagship Architecture
The GV90 is built on a new eMP platform and represents a significant scale-up for the brand. The SUV measures 208.1 inches in length, 79.9 inches in width, and 71.5 inches in height. Under the hood, it produces 657 hp and is powered by a 123.5 kWh battery—the largest currently in the Hyundai Motor Group EV lineup. For the 7-seater configuration, Genesis expects a driving range of approximately 310 miles (500 km).
Beyond the hardware, the vehicle introduces the Pleos Connect infotainment system and the Gleo AI companion. Lee Min-ah, a Senior Researcher at the Infotainment UX Development Team, noted that significant effort went into the app screen policies to ensure that using navigation and other applications simultaneously remains a seamless experience for the user.
Shifting the Luxury Paradigm
This launch signals a strategic push by Genesis into the ultra-luxury EV segment, where the competition is shifting from raw performance to "display expandability" and interior versatility. By treating the cabin as a mobile living space rather than a mere transport tool, Genesis is targeting a demographic that prioritizes high-tech utility and immersive environments. The GV90 will be available in a standard variant as well as a "Neolun" version, which distinguishes itself with B-pillarless coach doors for easier entry and exit.
What to Watch
As Genesis rolls out the GV90, the industry will be watching how consumers respond to the motorized hardware of the Cinematic Display and whether the 310-mile range is sufficient for a vehicle of this size and luxury tier. While the technical specifications are now public, the real-world performance of the Gleo AI companion and the seamlessness of the Pleos Connect system in diverse driving conditions remain the primary points of interest for early adopters.
