Two passengers in Austin, Texas, have reported encountering a hidden manual-driving interface on the cabin screen of the Tesla Cybercab shortly after its public launch. The discovery contradicts Tesla's marketing of the vehicle as a fully autonomous transport devoid of manual controls.
The interface was spotted by riders David Moss and Matthew Skrzypczak. According to reports, the screen displayed a virtual joystick, a stop button, a horn button, and a command to close the cabin doors. "When I got in the vehicle, the display was in a different configuration with a virtual joystick for manual driving," Skrzypczak said, adding that he felt he was not supposed to see the menu.
