Polestar 4 SUV Hits Europe With Rear Window and Expanded Cargo

Polestar has launched the Polestar 4 SUV in Europe, transforming its best-selling four-door coupe into a utility-focused family vehicle. The move signals a strategic shift toward practicality to capture a broader segment of the European electric vehicle market.
Departing from the Coupe's controversial design, the SUV variant introduces a rear window and a rear wiper with washer. It also brings back the traditional rear-view mirror, though a digital mirror remains available as an option. The vehicle measures 190.5 inches long and 84.2 inches wide, standing approximately 0.9 inches taller than the Coupe version. Inside, the SUV offers a significant boost in utility, with cargo capacity reaching 655 liters (23.1 cu ft) with seats in place, expanding to a total of 1,665 liters (58.8 cu ft) when the seats are folded and the frunk is included.
Performance and Power
Both configurations of the Polestar 4 SUV utilize a standard 100-kWh battery. The Single-motor RWD version delivers 272 hp and a WLTP range of up to 391 miles. For those seeking more power, the Dual-motor AWD variant produces 544 hp, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds with a WLTP range of 372 miles.
Beyond raw performance, Polestar has introduced a "Camping mode" that keeps the climate control, infotainment system, USB-C, and 12V outlets active while the vehicle is parked. Additionally, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability supporting up to 3.3 kW comes as standard. For interior comfort, an optional electrochromic glass roof is available to help reduce glare.

This launch addresses the primary criticism of the original Polestar 4 Coupe, which relied entirely on cameras for rear visibility. By adding a rear window and increasing storage, Polestar is targeting the European preference for wagon-style vehicles.
