According to data from the Portuguese Automobile Association (ACAP), 17,209 motor vehicles were registered in August 2026. This represents an 11.3% increase compared to the same period last year. The growth was heavily influenced by the performance of electric vehicles (EVs), which accounted for 36.1% of all new light passenger car sales during the month, comfortably surpassing the 25% threshold.
