Segway has announced the MUXI Pro, a high-performance evolution of its compact short-tail cargo e-bike designed for urban utility. The new model arrives as a more capable alternative to the original MUXI, integrating automatic shifting and higher speeds to better serve as a primary vehicle for city commuters.
Scheduled for a U.S. release on September 22, 2026, the MUXI Pro is priced at $1,999.99. The bike is powered by a 750W direct-drive rear motor that delivers 80 Nm of torque, supported by a 716Wh battery. It reaches a top speed of 28 mph, though riders can use the Segway app to toggle between Class 1, 2, and 3 operation modes. To handle heavier loads, the bike features a total payload capacity of 418 lb (190 kg) and offers an optional passenger kit for riders weighing up to 120 lb (54 kg).
A Shift Toward Utility
The MUXI Pro represents a strategic pivot from the original MUXI launched in April 2026. While the first iteration emphasized a retro-inspired aesthetic for basic urban commuting, the Pro version is engineered for heavy-duty use. The most significant mechanical upgrade is the introduction of a 9-speed electronic drivetrain with automatic shifting, which simplifies the riding experience when hauling cargo or navigating stop-and-go traffic.
