AI Glasses Maker INMO Eyes IPO After Securing Nearly RMB 1 Billion in Series C Funding
The Chinese wearable pioneer is scaling its spatial computing hardware and software as it prepares for a public listing.
INMO Technology has officially initiated preparations for an initial public offering following the completion of its Series C3 financing round. The latest capital injection brings the total amount raised across its Series C funding to nearly RMB 1 billion, signaling a major scaling phase for the smart glasses developer.
The Series C3 round was led by the Sichuan Revitalization Science and Technology Innovation Fund. Other participants included Jing'an Capital, Shibei Hi-Tech, Guangzhou Industrial Investment, Sichuan Pilot Test Platform, Meishan Pilot Test Platform, and Dongpo State-owned Investment. Following this recent financing activity, INMO's valuation is approximately 2 billion yuan (roughly $280 million).
Scaling Spatial Intelligence
Founded in 2020, INMO has positioned itself as a pioneer in China's AI glasses market. The company has focused on vertical integration, developing its own proprietary array waveguide optical technology and the IMOS spatial operating system. To enhance the utility of its wearables, INMO partnered with LLM developer Zhipu to integrate conversational AI directly into its hardware.
According to the company, the newly raised funds are earmarked for the research, development, and implementation of next-generation spatial intelligent hardware. The capital will also support iterative software upgrades to refine the user experience of its existing product ecosystem.
The Race for Mass Adoption
This aggressive funding strategy and the move toward an IPO reflect a maturing market for AI-powered wearables in China. The industry is currently shifting from the production of conceptual prototypes toward products designed for mass adoption. By securing significant capital, INMO is positioning itself as a primary challenger to global leaders like Meta in the effort to define the next generation of personal computing.
Founder and CEO Yang Longsheng has emphasized the need for practical utility over novelty. "Our goal is to bring AI and AR out of the lab and into daily life," Yang stated, noting that the critical challenge is not creating futuristic concepts, but building tools that people actually use every day.
Future Outlook
As INMO moves toward its public listing, the market will be watching how the company translates its R&D investment into hardware that can sustain long-term consumer interest. While the company has established a technical foundation with its proprietary optics and OS, the success of its IPO will likely depend on its ability to scale production and maintain its competitive edge against both domestic and international rivals in the spatial computing space.
