Parth Shah, a technology analyst for Android Police, reported that his Fitbit Air recorded nearly 5,000 false steps during a five-hour drive from Ahmedabad to Surat. Despite remaining in the driver's seat for the duration of the trip, the device continuously logged movement. Shah attributes the error to the wearable misinterpreting steering wheel movements and road vibrations as walking steps.

Prior to this incident, Shah had used the Fitbit Air for nearly a month without encountering similar issues. The device is designed to integrate with the Google Health app, which aggregates activity summaries, sleep data, and various fitness insights to provide users with a comprehensive view of their health.
