Google Pixel 10 Pro Offers Better Value Than Newer Pixel 11 Pro

The latest flagship from Google may not be the smartest buy for every consumer. An analysis by MakeUseOf suggests that the Pixel 10 Pro is a superior purchase compared to the newer Pixel 11 Pro due to a combination of higher costs and downgraded memory.
The Pixel 11 Pro enters the market at $1,099, representing a $100 increase over the Pixel 10 Pro's $999 price point. Despite the higher cost, the base model of the Pixel 11 Pro features only 12GB of RAM, a 25% reduction from the 16GB found in the Pixel 10 Pro. This creates a rare market dynamic where a previous-generation device offers more raw memory than its successor.
Hardware Trade-offs
Google has not left the Pixel 11 Pro without improvements. The newer device introduces the Tensor G6 chip, built on a 2nm process, and increases base storage from 128GB to 256GB. Charging speeds have also seen a boost, with wireless charging moving from 15W to 25W, and the display brightness has increased from 3,300 nits to 3,600 nits.
Additionally, the Pixel 11 Pro debuts "HiLight," a multicolored programmable LED. This hardware addition pulses during Gemini AI usage and allows users to assign specific colors to individual contacts for incoming calls. However, for many, these incremental gains do not offset the loss of memory. As the MakeUseOf author noted, "it's still disappointing to have to pay more to get less."
The Impact on Power Users
This shift in specifications is particularly significant for power users who rely on Android's desktop mode or agentic AI features, both of which are memory-intensive. The reduction in base RAM represents a regression in hardware capability that could hinder high-end multitasking, making the Pixel 10 Pro more suitable for demanding tasks despite its older processor.
Furthermore, Google's commitment to long-term software support mitigates the risk of buying an older model. The company promises seven years of software updates for its Pixel devices. Because the Pixel 10 Pro was released in the summer of 2025, it will remain officially supported with updates until the summer of 2032.

As Google continues to integrate Gemini AI deeper into the Android ecosystem, the demand for on-device RAM is expected to grow. Whether the Tensor G6's efficiency can compensate for the 4GB deficit in the Pixel 11 Pro remains to be seen.
