Honor has launched the first round of open sales for its Robot Phone in China, introducing a device that blends mobile hardware with robotic motion. While the company previously signaled a global launch, the device is currently available exclusively through Honor's official online store and partner retailers within the Chinese market.
Positioned as a professional cinematic tool, the device features a 200MP main sensor mounted on a titanium "Agile Gimbal" mechanical system. This hardware provides four degrees of freedom (4-DoF), enabling the camera to move physically to stabilize footage or track subjects. Pricing reflects this high-end positioning: the base model with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage starts at CNY 9,999 (approximately $1,483), while a premium configuration with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage is priced at CNY 12,999 (approximately $1,928).
A Shift Toward Embodied AI
The Robot Phone represents a strategic pivot toward "embodied AI," where artificial intelligence is integrated into physical robotic components rather than remaining purely software-based. Honor describes the device as a "new species of smartphone" that combines robot-grade motion with cinematic imaging. The "Robot" designation refers specifically to the articulating camera arm and the AI's ability to control that physical motion for enhanced interaction and tracking.
To bolster its professional appeal, Honor developed the device in partnership with ARRI, a leader in motion picture cameras.
