Nvidia's ARM-based RTX Spark Leaks Reveal High-End Multi-Core Performance

Nvidia is preparing to enter the ARM-based laptop CPU market with a new platform called RTX Spark, aiming to challenge the long-standing dominance of x86 architecture. The move signals a strategic shift toward a PC ecosystem optimized for agentic AI and high-performance gaming.
Leaked Geekbench 7 benchmarks for the RTX Spark N1X chip reveal configurations with 18 and 20 cores. The 20-core variant recorded a single-core score of approximately 2,570 and a multi-core score of 23,126. This multi-core performance puts the N1X in the same league as high-end x86 processors, such as the Intel i9-14900KS, which typically scores around 23,785. To ensure the platform is viable for gamers, Nvidia is reportedly working on compatibility with DRM software and anti-cheat systems to maintain game stability on the ARM architecture.
A Push to Reinvent the PC
This transition leverages Nvidia's existing experience with ARM, previously seen in hardware like the Nintendo Switch. The initiative is part of a broader vision to modernize computing; Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated at Computex that the company's focus is to "reinvent the PC," noting that the basic architecture of the personal computer has remained largely stagnant for roughly 40 years. If successful, the RTX Spark could provide a high-performance Windows-on-ARM alternative to Apple's M-series silicon. While the leaked single-core scores suggest it may not yet match the peak efficiency of some competitors, its multi-core strength and integrated graphics capabilities offer a significant draw. The integrated GPU is based on the Blackwell architecture and will support DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, potentially making it the premier choice for AI developers and gamers who prefer the Windows ecosystem over macOS.

The platform is expected to launch through a variety of hardware partners. Laptops featuring the RTX Spark are anticipated from Microsoft—specifically in a Surface Laptop Ultra model—as well as from Asus and MSI.
