Samsung Fixes Critical Fold 7 Display Bug in One UI 9 Beta 2
The latest software rollout brings essential stability fixes and four new Galaxy AI features to Samsung's 2025 foldable lineup.
Samsung has begun rolling out the One UI 9 Beta 2 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. The update focuses on critical system stability and the introduction of advanced AI capabilities to the foldable series.
The update addresses several high-priority bugs, most notably a failure in the Galaxy Z Fold 7 where the internal display would not activate upon unfolding the device. Beyond this hardware-critical fix, the patch resolves frequent Wi-Fi disconnects, crashes within the Contacts app, Bixby Vision translation errors, and a failure occurring during 15x video zoom.
Expanding Galaxy AI
Alongside the stability patches, Samsung is introducing four new Galaxy AI features. These tools originally debuted with the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy Z Fold 8/Flip 8 series, though they were recently made available via the One UI 9.0 beta for the Galaxy S25 series.
The new suite includes "Call Brief," which provides users with contextual information about a caller, such as upcoming events and a history of past conversations. "Custom Cards in Now Brief" enable personalized AI-generated summaries from integrated apps, including YouTube, Weather, and Samsung Health. Additionally, "Now Nudge" uses real-time on-screen data to suggest proactive next steps, while "My FanCam" allows users to select a specific person in a video and automatically crop the footage to keep that individual in focus.
Industry Implications
This update is a pivotal step in Samsung's effort to maintain feature parity between its foldable devices and its flagship S-series. By porting these AI tools to the Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, Samsung is leveraging the larger screen real estate of the Fold to enhance productivity and utility. However, the primary significance of this release lies in the reliability of the hardware; fixing a failure in the primary unfolding mechanism is essential for the basic functionality and consumer trust of the Z Fold 7.
Rollout Status
The One UI 9 Beta 2 update has already launched in South Korea. Samsung is expected to expand the rollout to the United Kingdom, India, and the United States shortly. Users in these regions should monitor their system updates to receive the stability fixes and AI enhancements.
