Verizon waives usage fees for Kaua'i residents ahead of Hurricane Lowell

Verizon has announced emergency measures to support customers on Kaua'i as Hurricane Lowell approaches the western Hawaiian Islands. The company is waiving domestic call, text, and data charges for affected subscribers to ensure critical communication remains accessible during the weather event.
These waivers apply to prepaid and postpaid consumer customers, as well as small business customers with 50 lines or fewer, throughout Kaua'i. The fee waivers will remain in effect through September 14, 2026. To support the physical network, Verizon has pre-staged equipment and deployed backup generators and satellite assets to prevent outages as the storm makes its closest approach.
Hurricane Lowell is classified as a major hurricane, reaching Category 3 or 4 status. The storm is forecast to impact the westernmost reaches of the Hawaiian island chain in early September 2026. State-wide alerts have been issued for dangerous surf, flooding, and damaging winds as the system moves toward the islands.
