This marks the second "Unplugged" show in the PAX series, following the original analog-focused event established in Philadelphia in 2017. PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) was founded by Penny Arcade creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins as a celebration of gaming culture. While the brand has operated various formats across multiple cities, the decision to plant a flag in Houston is a calculated move to fill a regional void. Organizers noted strong demand from fans who miss PAX South, which previously served as the series' primary presence in the region.
