The new multiplayer experience uses a physical tilt board and headset-free tracking to simulate board sports.

Valo Motion has launched ValoBoard, a multiplayer mixed-reality attraction designed to simulate board sports through a combination of physical hardware and full-body tracking. The system debuted at IAAPA Expo Europe 2026 at ExCeL London from September 22 to 24.

The attraction utilizes a physical tilt board paired with "ValoVision" full-body tracking, allowing users to enter a gamified world without the need for wearables or headsets. ValoBoard launches with three distinct games: the racing-focused Sunset Skaters, the mountain sandbox Trickpunk Snowboarding, and the head-to-head combat of Spinblades. For operators, the system occupies a 15-square-meter footprint with a required ceiling height of 2.7 meters. When utilizing "Rush Hour" mode, the attraction can handle a capacity of 70 to 74 riders per hour.

Expanding the Product Ecosystem

This release marks the fifth product in Valo Motion's overall lineup and the second launch of 2026, following the earlier release of Groundfall. The debut coincides with the company's 10th anniversary, signaling a decade of development in interactive technology for activity parks, climbing gyms, and Family Entertainment Centers (FECs). To streamline deployment, the system is built for unmanned operation and is supported by a cloud-based "Operations Hub" for remote management.

Lowering the Barrier to Entry

By digitizing the sensation of board sports, Valo Motion aims to remove the geographical and physical hurdles typically associated with surfing or snowboarding. Traditional board sports often require specific environments—such as oceans or mountains—and involve a steep learning curve that can deter beginners. ValoBoard transforms balance and core strength into an accessible game, making the experience available to a broader demographic regardless of their location or skill level.

"Board sports have captured people’s imagination for decades, but experiencing that rush is often out of reach," said Dr. Raine Kajastila, CEO of Valo Motion, according to Blooloop. "ValoBoard removes those barriers, making the excitement of board sports accessible to a much wider audience."

Future Outlook

As Valo Motion continues to integrate physical controllers into its mixed-reality offerings, the industry will be watching how the "unmanned" operational model performs in high-traffic FEC environments. While the initial launch focuses on three core titles, the cloud-based infrastructure suggests a framework for future content updates and remote scaling across global venues.
