According to reports, a "cash crisis"—a significant funding shortage—at the EU's Satellite Centre has led to a shortage of qualified image analysts. This gap in personnel weakens the disaster alert system's overall capacity to monitor active crises and plan timely evacuations, creating a bottleneck between data collection and operational action.

For European civil protection, the stakes are high: the ability to prevent small ignitions from evolving into uncontrollable mega-fires depends on the speed of the entire chain, from satellite detection to boots on the ground.
