Leaf Space to Debut TreeNet Orbital Mesh Technology at BSX 2026

The Italian GSaaS provider will showcase scalable ground infrastructure and hybrid connectivity solutions in Bengaluru this September.

Italian Ground Segment as-a-Service (GSaaS) provider Leaf Space will participate in the Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX) 2026 from September 7-9. Held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, the event serves as the launchpad for the company to present its scalable ground infrastructure and a new hybrid connectivity technology designed for modern satellite fleets.

At the expo, Leaf Space will highlight its flagship platform, Leaf Line, which offers a unified interface for mission data communications and Command and Control (TT&C) through a global network of ground stations. Alongside this, the company is introducing TreeNet, a technology that establishes shared orbital mesh networks. TreeNet is designed to facilitate continuous, low-rate communications between scheduled ground passes, effectively bridging the gap in satellite connectivity.

The Shift to Scalable Infrastructure

Founded in 2014, Leaf Space entered the market as satellite constellations grew in both size and complexity. Traditionally, satellite operators relied on proprietary ground networks, which required significant capital expenditure and created operational friction. As the industry moves toward larger clusters, there is a growing trend toward automated, secure, third-party infrastructure that allows operators to manage high data volumes without the overhead of building their own physical networks.

Reducing Orbital Blind Spots

The introduction of TreeNet marks a strategic shift toward hybrid connectivity. By combining traditional ground station downloads with continuous orbital monitoring, the technology addresses the "blind spots" that occur when a satellite is out of range of a ground station. For operators of high-density satellite clusters, this capability allows for near-instantaneous commanding and significantly improved situational awareness.

Jai Dialani, Managing Director for the US at Leaf Space, noted that BSX 2026 provides an opportunity to engage with the expanding space ecosystem in India and the surrounding region. He emphasized that satellite operators are increasingly seeking more efficient and scalable methods to manage missions that are becoming more complex.

Future Outlook

As the space industry continues to scale, the integration of orbital mesh networks like TreeNet could become a standard for maintaining persistent contact with assets in LEO and beyond. Observers will be watching to see how these hybrid models integrate with existing GSaaS frameworks to further reduce the reliance on static ground-based hardware.
