Rocketdyne has returned to operating as an independent company following its acquisition by investment firm AE Industrial Partners. The move separates the aerospace specialist from L3Harris, where it previously operated as the space propulsion, power, and electronics division.
As part of this transition, Rocketdyne is designating its campus in Mason, Ohio, as the company's "center of excellence for space electronics." The company currently employs approximately 1,300 people across five different locations, with roughly 350 of those employees based at the Mason site. According to CEO Kristin Houston, the work performed at the Ohio campus is fundamental to the success of NASA's Artemis Moon missions, the operation of Mars rovers, and the deployment of national security satellites.
