CXMT Launches Global Talent Drive After 873% Revenue Surge

China's leading memory chipmaker opens 180+ positions across Asia as it scales LPDDR6 production.

China’s primary memory chip manufacturer, CXMT, has launched its 2027 Global Campus Recruitment campaign to aggressively expand its technical workforce. The move signals a strategic push to secure high-end engineering talent as the company scales production of next-generation memory standards.

The recruitment drive offers more than 180 positions targeting graduates from both Chinese and overseas universities. Available roles are concentrated in research and development (R&D), circuit design, and production operations. While headquartered in Hefei, the hiring effort spans several key hubs, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi'an. Notably, CXMT is recruiting in Japan specifically for specialized roles in IC layout design, I/O design, and analog circuits.

Scaling Production and Revenue

This talent expansion follows a period of explosive financial growth and technical milestones. CXMT reported H1 revenue of 150.31 billion yuan ($22.4 billion), representing a staggering 873.64% increase year-on-year. This financial windfall coincides with the company's transition into mass production of LPDDR6 DRAM chips. These high-performance chips have already seen commercial deployment, appearing in Xiaomi's 18 Fold flagship smartphone.

Industry analysts suggest that the quality of hires is more critical than the quantity. Liu Dingding, an industry analyst, noted that while the scale of the recruitment is moderate, high-tech firms like chipmakers rely on a small number of highly qualified specialists to drive growth.

The AI-Driven Market Shift

The drive comes amid a global surge in demand for high-performance memory, fueled largely by the AI boom. AI data centers require vast quantities of specialized memory to function, creating a market environment where traditional giants like Samsung and SK Hynix face immense pressure. This shift has led major global technology firms, including Apple, Dell, and HP, to explore alternative supply sources to mitigate potential supply squeezes.

Strategic Implications

CXMT's aggressive recruitment and the successful rollout of LPDDR6 indicate a clear intent to reduce China's reliance on foreign semiconductor technology. By establishing a presence in international talent pools—particularly in Japan—CXMT is positioning itself to compete directly with global leaders in the DRAM market.

Moving forward, the industry will be watching whether CXMT can successfully integrate this new wave of global talent to maintain its current growth trajectory. While the company has proven it can bring leading-edge standards to market, the long-term challenge remains scaling these operations to meet the demands of a global client base while navigating a complex geopolitical landscape.
