Navitas Ships Gen 5 GaNFast Chips From U.S. GlobalFoundries Plant

Navitas Semiconductor has commenced the first shipments of its 5th Generation GaNFast technology manufactured within the United States. The move establishes a secure domestic supply chain for high-efficiency power semiconductors essential for national security and AI infrastructure.
Shipments of the U.S.-manufactured Gen 5 GaNFast products began in September 2026. Production is based at GlobalFoundries' 200mm GaN-on-silicon manufacturing facility located in Burlington, Vermont. This operational milestone is the result of a strategic partnership designed to scale the production of gallium nitride (GaN) technology on American soil.
Strengthening the Domestic Ecosystem
This deployment follows a long-term strategic partnership announced by Navitas and GlobalFoundries in November 2025. The collaboration was specifically designed to accelerate U.S. GaN innovation and reduce the industry's reliance on foreign fabrication. By shifting production to Vermont, the companies aim to strengthen the overall resilience of the U.S. semiconductor ecosystem, particularly for power-hungry applications such as industrial electrification and AI data centers.
Chris Allexandre, President and CEO of Navitas, stated that the company has established a trusted domestic manufacturing source for Gen 5 and future generations. Kannan Soundarapandian, Senior VP of GlobalFoundries’ power business, added that the first shipment demonstrates how the two companies are converting advanced innovation into a secure and scalable domestic supply.
