Taipei Tech Joins Taiwan-Germany Semiconductor Talent Pipeline

National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech) has signed an agreement with Dresden University of Technology (TU Dresden) to join the Semiconductor Talent Incubation Program Taiwan (STIPT). The partnership expands a strategic educational pipeline designed to support the semiconductor industry in Germany.
Taipei Tech is the fourth Taiwanese university to enter the STIPT framework, joining National Taiwan University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. The program integrates academic coursework conducted in Taiwan with hands-on practical training at TSMC facilities in Taichung. This collaborative structure cultivates a specialized workforce for Dresden, Germany, aligning with TSMC's ongoing investments in the region.
Strategic Industrial Alignment
The program supports TSMC's investment in a semiconductor plant in Dresden. By targeting German engineering students interested in artificial intelligence and semiconductors, the initiative leverages Taiwan's global leadership in microelectronics to bridge a critical skills gap in Europe. Funding for the program is split equally between the Free State of Saxony and Germany's Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space.

Josef Goldberger, head of the Saxon Science Liaison Office Taiwan, stated that to be part of the industry and catch up, students must come to Taiwan to learn. Similarly, Karsten Tietz, Director General of the German Institute Taipei, described Taiwan as the "world champion" in the field of semiconductors.
