According to Ad-Hoc News, the collaboration focuses on the development of SiC power devices to enhance the operational capabilities of UBTECH's humanoid fleet. By utilizing silicon carbide—a material known for superior thermal and electrical properties compared to traditional silicon—the partnership seeks to improve energy efficiency and enable more precise motion control. These machines are intended to operate in the highly controlled and demanding environments of chip fabrication plants, where precision and reliability are paramount.

Market Volatility and Competition

This hardware push comes as UBTECH navigates a turbulent period for its business and stock performance. The company has faced significant headwinds following the successful Shanghai IPO of rival Unitree Robotics, which raised approximately $904 million (6.1 billion yuan) and triggered a surge in share price for the competitor.

Beyond market competition, UBTECH is contending with geopolitical pressures. The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has moved to ban new imports of foreign-made humanoid and quadruped robots, citing national security and cybersecurity risks. In response to these challenges, UBTECH is attempting to diversify its portfolio. The company recently unveiled an "Emotional-Care" humanoid robot for the service sector, priced at approximately 168,000 yuan (roughly $24,000).
