Oracle has implemented an interim ban on the submission of AI-generated code to OpenJDK, the open-source project that serves as the foundation for the Java platform. The new policy prohibits the contribution of AI-generated source code, text, and images across all project channels, including repositories, pull requests, email messages, wiki pages, and JBS issues. By banning AI contributions to OpenJDK, Oracle is prioritizing safety, security, and the protection of intellectual property over the speed of development.
