SwitchBot launches Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo for European market
The retrofit smart lock bundle supports 99% of European cylinders and offers 19 unlocking methods, including palm vein recognition.
SwitchBot has unveiled the Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo at IFA, a retrofit smart lock system specifically engineered for the European market. The launch aims to eliminate traditional keys by providing a wide array of digital entry options for a diverse range of existing door hardware.
The combo is priced at €339.99 / £339.99 (approximately $395). The bundle includes the Lock Ultra Max, the Keypad Vision Pro, and the Hub Mini Matter. To ensure broad adoption, SwitchBot designed the device to be compatible with 99% of European locks, including EU profile, knob, Swiss round, and UK oval cylinders.
Enhanced Hardware Performance
The Lock Ultra Max represents a significant power increase over its predecessor. The device features a motor capable of over 9kg of turning force and a rotation speed of 160rpm. This makes the locking mechanism 3.2x faster than the previous Lock Ultra model.
To move away from physical keys, the system offers up to 19 different unlocking methods. These include high-end biometric options such as palm vein recognition and facial recognition, as well as more traditional digital methods like fingerprint scans, passcodes, and NFC cards.
Solving the European Retrofit Challenge
This launch follows the release of the Lock Ultra Vision last year. While the previous model provided a general solution, the 'Max' version is a more powerful iteration optimized for the specific architectural standards and diverse lock cylinders found across Europe.
Retrofit locks are particularly critical in European markets where replacing entire door hardware is often prohibited by rental agreements or strict architectural standards. By offering a "no-drill" solution that fits the vast majority of existing cylinders, SwitchBot is positioning itself to lead the smart home entry segment in the region.
Market Implications
The inclusion of advanced biometrics like palm vein recognition puts SwitchBot in direct competition with high-end security firms, while the retrofit nature of the product lowers the barrier to entry for renters and homeowners alike.
