BYD Denza N8 Electric SUV Hits 1,003 km Range Milestone

BYD has unveiled the all-electric version of the Denza N8, a luxury 5-seat SUV that achieves a CLTC range of 1,003 km (approximately 623 miles). The vehicle represents a strategic pivot for the Denza brand as it targets the high-end electric vehicle market.
According to filings with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the N8 is powered by a 130.15 kWh battery pack utilizing BYD's latest Blade Battery 2.0 technology. For those seeking maximum performance, a tri-motor AWD variant is available, delivering a combined output of 890 kW, or roughly 1,193 hp. To minimize downtime, the SUV features "Flash Charging" capabilities; this system can replenish the battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes, and from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.
A Strategic Pivot
The Denza N8 first entered the market in 2023 as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV). While that version also boasted a combined range of 1,003 km, it suffered from poor sales and was subsequently discontinued. BYD is now repositioning the model as a pure battery electric vehicle (BEV) built on its e3 platform. This shift allows the premium Denza brand to compete more directly with other luxury electric SUVs by offering a dedicated EV architecture rather than a hybrid compromise.
Breaking the Range Barrier
Crossing the 1,000 km CLTC threshold is a significant technical milestone for BYD. By achieving this distance using LFP-based Blade Battery technology, the company demonstrates that ultra-long range is possible without relying on more expensive or less stable high-nickel or semi-solid-state chemistries. When paired with the rapid Flash Charging system, the N8 directly addresses the two most persistent barriers to premium EV adoption: range anxiety and lengthy charging stops.

As BYD pushes the Denza brand further into the luxury segment, the N8 serves as a showcase for the company's vertical integration of battery and charging tech.
