Cadillac Debuts $55,000 Bespoke Customization Program for Escalade IQ
The 'Curated by Cadillac' experience brings Celestiq-style hand-built personalization to the brand's flagship electric SUV.
Cadillac is introducing a high-end bespoke customization program for the all-electric Escalade IQ to compete with the world's most exclusive luxury automakers. The new "Curated by Cadillac" initiative allows a select number of buyers to personalize their vehicles through a concierge-led design process.
For an additional $54,995 over the vehicle's base MSRP—which starts at approximately $129,990 for the 2026 model—clients can access a vast array of hand-crafted details. The program offers more than 200 customization options, including a catalog of over 160 exterior paint colors and finishes. To ensure the highest level of craftsmanship, these customized vehicles are hand-built at the Artisan Center located within the GM Technical Center in Warren, Michigan.
A Shift Toward Ultra-Luxury
This move represents a strategic expansion of the ultra-luxury approach Cadillac first debuted with the Celestiq, a hand-crafted electric sedan. By adapting the Celestiq's production philosophy for the Escalade IQ, Cadillac is attempting to bridge the gap between its standard luxury SUVs and the bespoke world of European marques like Rolls-Royce and Bentley. According to a Cadillac representative, the company is extending the hand-built Celestiq experience to provide true customization capabilities for a limited number of Escalade IQ clients.
Market Implications
By offering a highly personalized version of the Escalade—its most recognizable luxury nameplate—Cadillac is positioning itself to capture a segment of the market that demands total exclusivity. This strategy allows the brand to elevate its prestige in the electric era while simultaneously increasing profit margins per vehicle. The shift toward a concierge-led configuration process signals that Cadillac no longer views the Escalade simply as a mass-market luxury SUV, but as a canvas for high-net-worth individuals seeking a one-of-one automotive statement.
The Road Ahead
As Cadillac rolls out this program, the industry will be watching to see if American luxury buyers are willing to pay a premium for hand-built craftsmanship on a larger scale. While the program is currently limited to a select number of clients, its success could dictate how GM handles personalization across its future EV portfolio. For now, the focus remains on the Artisan Center in Michigan, where the brand's most ambitious electric SUV is being transformed into a bespoke luxury asset.
