Kia Unveils PV7 Electric Van with 460 km Range at IAA Transportation 2026
The modular PBV newcomer targets the commercial market with 800V fast charging and high-capacity cargo options.
Kia has officially unveiled the PV7, a large-scale electric van designed to bridge the gap between commercial logistics and passenger transport. Debuting at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Germany, the vehicle marks the second major entry in Kia's ambitious Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup.
Built on the E-GMP.S platform, the PV7 offers a significant leap in utility and performance. The Long Range Cargo version delivers a range of over 460 km (285 miles) on the WLTP cycle. To support this, Kia provides two NCM battery pack options: a 71.5 kWh unit and a larger 96.2 kWh pack. The van utilizes an 800V architecture, allowing drivers to charge the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 20 to 25 minutes when using a 350 kW DC fast charger.
Modular Architecture and Capacity
Designed for extreme versatility, the PV7 features a modular architecture that allows for various configurations. The vehicle measures 5,350 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, and 1,990 mm in height, supported by a 3,500 mm wheelbase. The powertrain produces up to 200 kW (approximately 268-272 hp) and 420 Nm of torque.
For commercial operators, the PV7 provides a base cargo capacity of 6.1 cubic meters, which expands to 8 cubic meters in the High Roof variant. On the passenger side, the model is expected to offer up to 11 seats specifically for the Korean market. To manage these diverse roles, Kia has integrated the Pleos Connect infotainment system and Gleo AI to streamline fleet and passenger management.
Strategic Market Shift
This launch is a cornerstone of Kia's PBV strategy, which prioritizes purpose-built electric vehicles over traditional chassis adaptations. Following the smaller PV5, Kia is positioning itself to disrupt the light commercial vehicle (LCV) sector, directly challenging established players like the Ford E-Transit Custom and the VW ID. Buzz. Future Outlook
Kia's expansion into the LCV market is aggressive, with plans to launch 23 different PV7 variants over the coming years.
