Huawei is developing a non-folding smartphone that departs from the narrow dimensions of modern flagships in favor of a wide-screen design. The device seeks to provide the expansive viewing experience typically reserved for foldables without the mechanical complexity of a hinge.
According to reports from GSMArena, the upcoming handset will feature a 16:10 screen aspect ratio, mirroring the form factor previously seen in the Pura X. Under the hood, the phone is rumored to be powered by a Kirin 9-series chipset. To support the larger display and high-performance silicon, Huawei is reportedly equipping the device with a battery capacity of at least 7,000 mAh. The hardware suite is rounded out by a sophisticated camera system, which reportedly includes a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.3" sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, and a specialized multispectral camera.
The Shift Toward Wider Displays
This project is a direct evolution of Huawei's work with the Pura X, which introduced a 16:10 internal display to the clamshell foldable market.
