Leaked HyperOS Code Reveals Poco F9 Pro and Ultra Battery Specs
The upcoming Poco F9 series appears to feature smaller batteries than their Chinese Redmi counterparts despite sharing the same charging speeds.
Leaked HyperOS code has revealed the battery capacities and charging specifications for the upcoming Poco F9 Pro and Poco F9 Ultra. The discovery suggests a notable discrepancy in hardware between these global models and the Chinese devices they are based on.
According to the leak, the Poco F9 Ultra will feature an 8,050mAh battery, while the Poco F9 Pro will be equipped with a 6,330mAh cell. Despite the difference in capacity between the two models, both devices are expected to support 100W fast charging. These specifications emerge as the industry anticipates the global rollout of the F9 series.
The Redmi Connection
Xiaomi frequently utilizes a rebranding strategy where devices sold under the Redmi brand in China are released globally as Poco devices. In this instance, the Poco F9 Ultra is a rebranded version of the Redmi K100 Pro Max, and the Poco F9 Pro is a rebranded Redmi K100 Pro.
However, the leaked data highlights a significant reduction in battery size for the global market. The original Redmi K100 Pro Max carries a 9,070mAh battery, and the Redmi K100 Pro features an 8,580mAh battery. This means the Poco F9 Ultra loses over 1,000mAh of capacity compared to its Chinese twin, while the F9 Pro sees an even steeper drop of more than 2,000mAh.
Performance and Hardware
Beyond the battery, the devices are expected to maintain high-end specifications. The leaked details indicate that both models will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Visual and imaging upgrades are also expected, with the devices likely sporting 185Hz refresh rate screens and 200MP main cameras to compete in the flagship killer segment.
Why the Discrepancy Matters
This gap in battery capacity could significantly impact the value proposition of the Poco F9 series. For users prioritizing endurance, the reduction in mAh—particularly on the Pro model—may make the global versions less attractive than the original Chinese hardware. While 100W charging helps mitigate downtime, the raw longevity of the device is fundamentally tied to the battery size.

An official launch appears imminent. Certification filings in Singapore via the IMDA and in Indonesia via the SDPPI suggest that the devices are moving through the final regulatory hurdles.
