US Mobile is planning to integrate both AST SpaceMobile and Starlink Direct to Cell services into its offerings, providing users with satellite-to-cell redundancy. This move allows standard smartphones to maintain connectivity in remote areas without the need for specialized hardware.

According to US Mobile CEO Ahmed Khattak, who announced the plans via Reddit, the rollout will happen in stages. AST SpaceMobile is slated to be available for the company's 'Warp' plan—which utilizes the Verizon network—starting in the fourth quarter of this year. Starlink Direct to Cell is targeted for a later release, also expected by the end of Q4.

The Satellite-to-Cell Race

This strategic move comes as the satellite-to-cell market intensifies. Both SpaceX, through its Starlink initiative, and AST SpaceMobile are developing technology designed to connect unmodified smartphones directly to orbiting satellites.
